Natural Language Processing
Definition
NLP is a subfield of four disciplines:
- information engineering: Information technology engineering involves an architectural approach for planning, analyzing, designing, and implementing applications.
-computer science: the study of computers and how they can be used
-linguistics: the scientific study of the structure and development of language in general or particular languages
-artificial intelligence: definition here
This field is concerned with the interactions between computers and human languages, in particular how to program computers to process and analyze large amounts of natural language data.
Human languages are called natural, in contrast with artificial. Everything we express hidden a high amount of information, not only the words but also the tone, the selections of words, the topic... it's a complex matter we have to explore.
