Nanotechnology in medicine
Definition
Nanotechnology is a term for a wide field with many applications that implies the manipulation of matter at the nanometric scale, which means less than one sie dimension of between 1 to 100 nanometers. Tha means we are manipulating at the scale of atoms and molecules for manufacture nano and microscale products.
The application of nanotechnology to medicine is called nanomedicine.
Nanotechnology vs nanomedicine
Nanomedicine it applies to biolodical devices ,nanoelectronic biosensors and molecular biological machines. It is one of the most recent and still growing fields of biomedicine (as far as biomedicine is recent too), which implies some problems. Current problems for nanomedicine are related to understanding the issues related to toxicity and environmental impact of nanoscale materials, among others.
Personal appreciation
I think is one of the most interesting fields of biomedicine, as it opens a door to develop very precise-targetted treatments and diagnosis pathways. Furthermore, that technology is one of the newest, and there is still so many things to discover about it. Sadly, that means it is not available everywhere and there are not many jobs nor countries that offer opportunities in nanomedicine.
